5 Tips To Declutter Your Garage

1.Take Everything Out

The very first step to declutter your garage is to take everything out. However, if this turns out to be overwhelming, you can divide your garage into four sections and then decluttering each section one after the other. When taking your stuff out, you want to make sure that you group them in an organized fashion to make it easy for you to identify them. For example - group all tools, sports equipment, Christmas decorations, etc. 

2. Clean the Walls and Floors

You'll want to get yourself a duster with extension pole and knock off all the dust and spider webs. Make sure to do this before cleaning your garage floor. If it's needed get some soapy water and wipe the walls clean. Once you get the whole garage cleared or just one section cleared, you want to make sure that you get rid of all debris on the floor, and this can be done with a blower, a shop vac or simply a broom and dust pan.

3.Sort Everything Out

When done, you want to make sure that you sort everything before putting stuff back into the garage. Not only is it helpful to sort your things in to categorize (step 1), but you'll also benefit from sorting you things in 5 different sub-categories - The things you would like to Keep, Sell, Give Away, Donate and Junk

4.Utilize Organizational Aids

Before you put your items back into your garage, you want to ensure that you utilize some organizational aids such as storage compartments, hanging rail track, hooks, shelves, peg boards and plastic storage bins with lids. Not only does doing this helps you maximize the space you have, but it also makes it easy for you to identify items. Don't skip this and throw everything back in the garage. 5.Put Items Alike Together

When returning your items into the garage, you want to make sure that you put all the items that perform a similar function together. For example, you want to put your tools together or your cleaning supplies together.
